GERTRUDE CHRISTINE (HANSEN) SORENSEN, Enke (widow). She was President of the first Ladies Aid organized in 1895, and also helped to start Sunday School. She was born Jan. 27, 1826 in Raersnas, Osttofte on Lolland, Denmark, baptized the same year in Osttofte Church, confirmed the 1st Sunday after Easter, 1840 by Pastor Tanning and was married Feb. 8, 1853 to Hans Peter Sorensen. She came to America with her husband on April 10, 1880, and they first joined the Rutland Congregation. She was mother to six children, and was widowed when her husband died March 16, 1895. She then went to live with her daughter, Mrs. J.J. Dalby, joining the church in 1896.
