During the WW II years in the early forties, there was a shortage of workers here at home, especially on the farms during harvest time.
In 1943, two Oregon businessmen, Lester Crotty and R. L. Morrisey, organized local businessmen to help with the manpower shortage. Four nights per week, they helped their farmer neighbors for a few hours.
During 1943 and 1944 more than 1,700 acres of grain were shocked and the hay harvest was over 6,000 bales.
